About Karen

Karen Hocker

Founder and Lead Photographer

Karen founded Karen Hocker Photography in 2001, joining her lifelong love of animals and her fascination with photography. Before beginning her photography business, Karen worked as a dog trainer, helping pet owners teach their pets the basics of good canine behavior — a skill that comes in handy during photo sessions!

She’s also successfully trained her own dogs — Dieffenbaker, Alle, Nikon, Flyte, and Snap — good behavior, agility and field work. Nikon competes in agility and hunt tests, working on titles in each. Flyte started her agility career at age 4 and has just finished her first set of titles, and her daughter SNAP should be entering competition in mid 2008.

Karen also worked at a local online marketing and internet development company in Cambridge, building websites for numerous local clients. Her previous computer experience gave her a headstart when she made the switch to digital photography and processing, and has allowed her to offer custom creative compositions to her clients.
