How do I order a custom collage?

Feb 4th, 2009 | Posted in FAQs, Ordering FAQs, Product FAQs by Kris

There are two places on the site to order a custom collage. The first is in the products section under About. The second is on the proof page under Buy This Proof. From either page, select the size of the collage you want to purchase, then click add to cart.

If you order from a proof page, that image will be used in the collage. If you’ve already selected the images you want to use before you order, you can list their proof numbers in the Comment field during checkout. If you haven’t or need help choosing, you can email me a list of proof numbers.

What format should my files be?

Feb 4th, 2009 | Posted in FAQs, Product FAQs by Kris

If you are providing your own images to be used in a Photo Book, Calendar or Ad, I prefer digital files.  However, if you only have prints or negatives, I can scan them to convert them to digital files.

If you are sending digital files, they need to be in JPG, TIFF or PNG format, preferably. Please send them full size (6″x10″ or larger) and full resolution (300DPI). You can email the files to me, or if you’d prefer send me a CD-ROM if there are a lot of them.

If you still have questions, please let me know.

How many photos can I use in a collage?

Feb 4th, 2009 | Posted in FAQs, Product FAQs by Kris

That totally depends on the size of the collage.

An 8×10 collage can support approximately three to four images —the main (large) image — and two to three smaller photos. If I add more images, they become small and hard to see.

For an 11×14 collage (or larger), I suggest five to seven images. Five or six images allows us to design for maximum visual impact. Too many photos will make the design busy and visually cluttered.

Take some time to look through the examples of collages I’ve designed and the collage templates before you place your order.
